Friday night, February 18, 2011 The Centenary Stage Company premiered its production of Theresa Rebeck’s comic one woman play “Bad Dates.” This is a very enjoyable 90 minutes of theater. In a series of monologues separated by blackouts, she plays to perfection Haley Walker, a 40 something Texan divorcee, who has relocated to New York City with her 13 year old daughter, Vera, and taken a job as a waitress and is new to dating.

The restaurant turns out to be run by Romanian mobsters who have been using the restaurant as a front for money laundering. After they are caught and sent away at government expense, Hayley becomes the Air Jordan 17s restaurant’s very successful new manager. We learn all this and the rather intimate details of her disastrous, ill fated attempts at dating as she dresses and undresses, tastefully, in the bedroom of her rent controlled Manhattan apartment. Shoes are so much of her world that In her quest for ‘Mr. Right’ she tells us that she’s “looking for the man who will fit her like a great pair of shoes.” I say ‘us’ because the entire play involves Haley talking directly, and effectively, to the audience.

Note that the plot has a surprising twist and is performed in one 90 minute act. You have until March 6th to see the very talented, Air Jordan 13s and irresistible Liz McConahay Wanfried work her magic.

Director Wallnau’s fine production team includes Set Designer Bob Phillips, Lisa Zinni Costume Design, Ed Matthews Lighting Design, Colin Whitely Sound Design and Dave Smith Technical Director. Catherine Rust is the Centenary Stage Company’s General Manager.

If you have not yet visited the Sitnik theatre at the Lackland Center, this is the premiere season, you are in for a very pleasant experience. It is a very comfortable venue with not a bad seat in the house. Parking is free and immediately in front and to the side of the Center.

Tickets for “Bad Dates ” range in price from $ 20 to $25, with special discounts for seniors, students and groups. A special tradition locally for the economically minded, Thursday evenings at CSC are “Family Nights” with two for one ‘rush’ ticket prices available at the door on the evening of the performance. Performance times Air Jordan 23s are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM, Sundays at 2:30 PM, Thursdays at 7:30 PM, with additional matinee performances on Weds, Feb. 23 and Air Jordan Fusion 4 Mar 2 at 2:30 PM .
